Barbeled Frisbee Coral
Barbeled Frisbee Coral is scattered in Indonesia and other places, and it likes to exist in the depressions of debris in marine coral reefs in Indonesia and other places. , and it is also known that the long-bearded Frisbee coral does not like light very much in saltwater tanks. However, in general, the long-bearded Frisbee coral is relatively easy to care for, and both amateurs and experts are suitable for raising this kind of coral.
What you need to know about the care of long-bearded Frisbee coral:
Due to the violent nature of the long tentacles, the long tentacles can damage neighboring corals. So when you put it in the coral tank, you should pay attention to maintaining enough space, because it will absorb water and stretch itself twice, and the long whiskers will be much longer than the frame. Best placed on the sandy bottom of the aquarium. Requires moderate light and water flow. In order to maintain its healthy growth, trace elements such as calcium and strontium need to be added to the water.
The long-bearded flying disc coral has higher water quality requirements, and the salinity needs to be maintained between 1.022-1.024. The temperature should be within the range of 24-27°C, and the pH value should be between 8.1-8.4. Although it seems that the three indicators of salinity, temperature, and pH are similar to those of other short-bearded Frisbee corals, they are actually very different during the breeding process. Long-bearded Frisbee corals are particularly sensitive to changes in water quality, so during breeding We must pay attention to the safety of water quality and not change it gradually. In addition, the long-bearded corals also have strict requirements for water flow and light in the tank, and need to be provided with weak light and weak water flow. Therefore, when landscaping seawater corals, it is recommended to place them in the middle of the entire tank, either on the bottom of the tank or on the bottom sand. The water flow here is generally slow and the light intensity is weak, which is suitable for its growth.
How to cut Frisbee coral?
First, you need to use a business card to stimulate the long whisker Frisbee to make it retract its tentacles. This is to minimize the contact between the blade and the sensitive coral structure, minimizing possible damage.
After touching the tentacles of the long-whiskered flying disc for a few minutes, it was completely in a state of suspension. At this point it is ready for cutting.
The blade should be cut straight to the mouthparts of the Frisbee. This will make the mouthparts recover faster so that both parts can continue to feed after being cut, which will be helpful for their recovery.
For safety reasons, I also prepared potassium iodide solution in advance. Its density is 40 drops of potassium iodide per gallon of water. The two parts after cutting were placed in the solution for 12 minutes. This is done to reduce the chance of feeling uncomfortable and thereby avoid tissue necrosis.
Only a few hours after cutting, the tentacles of the long-bearded flying disc have begun to stretch out.
A week later, it had fully stretched and opened. A month later, the long-bearded Frisbee's wound had completely healed, and it began to slowly return to shape.
