The body size is from ordinary to large, showing obvious sexual dimorphism. The average body length of males is 50 to 60 mm, and that of females can reach 90 mm or more. There are various different body colors. The back is mostly yellow-brown or gray-black, and the upper part is full of dark-brown mottled spots. The abdomen is milky-yellow with rough skin. The snout is blunt and rounded, the head is slightly broad, and there are black lines around the left and right jaws. The vocal sac is hidden inside when swallowed. There are sausage-shaped post-auricular glands behind the eyes, and the membranes are obvious. Except for the head, the whole body is covered with warts or nodules of various sizes. The warts and nodules have black horny spines. When startled, in addition to the white venom exuding from the glands behind the ears, the warts all over the body will also exude venom in self-defense. The forelimbs are slender, while the hind limbs are stubby and round. They are only half-webbed and have black fingertips.
